Naturally Whiten Teeth From Home

Natural Ways to Whiten Your Teeth From Home

White teeth are something that most people strive for. While teeth whitening has proven to be a successful way to whiten the teeth, there are some natural ways to achieve this at home. To understand how to whiten your teeth, you must understand what yellows or darkens them. Typically, certain foods and drinks as well as smoking can yellow the enamel of the teeth. These home remedies can whiten teeth that have already lost some white enamel.

Strawberry, Baking Soda & Salt Scrub

Because strawberries are high in Vitamin C, it helps to break down plaque that is causing teeth to be yellow. It also contains an enzyme known as malic acid, which helps removes stains. The salt is an abrasive that helps to scrub away anything that is causing stains and is still on the teeth. The baking soda helps make it a desirable texture, but it can be left out if you choose.

Combine 1-3 large strawberries, a pinch of sea salt and ½ teaspoon of baking soda (if you choose). Mash the berries until they are in a pulp and then add the other items. Wipe off any saliva from the teeth you are going to treat before applying a generous portion to a toothbrush. Allow the mixture to sit for five minutes then rinse. Do this nightly until your desired shade.

Coconut Oil

The lauric acid in coconut oil has been proven to help remove bacteria found in plaque from the teeth. It also helps the gums and keeps breath fresh. Take a tablespoon of coconut oil. Swish the oil through and around the teeth for up to 15 minutes. Spit it out and rinse with water and then brush your teeth. You may also soften the oil before putting it in your mouth if you choose.

Baking Soda & Lemon Juice Paste

Baking soda is mildly abrasive, which helps to gently scrub surface stains from the teeth. It also is alkaline meaning that if someone eats a lot of acidic food (leading to weak enamel), it can help rebalance the Ph in the mouth. Lemon juice will also reduce acidity in the mouth and acts as a natural bleach. Mix several teaspoons of baking soda with a small amount of lemon juice to make a paste. Wipe the teeth for any saliva and apply the paste with a toothbrush. Leave the paste on for about a minute and then rinse. Repeat regularly.

When it comes to teeth whitening, routine is important. Set up a routine that you will follow. Finding natural home remedies to whiten your teeth is easy, but dedicating time to the practice to see results may be the most difficult component. Avoid coffee, tea and other foods that may stain your teeth while trying to whiten your teeth.
